Two New Infection Control Training Resources for Healthcare Professionals

Two new infection control training resources for healthcare professionals are now available in the Education and Resources for Healthcare Professionals section of the healthcare-associated infections (HAI) program page.

The first resource is an interactive infection control training. Healthcare professionals are the first line of defense against HAIs and the spread of germs in healthcare settings. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now offers a new online interactive infection control training, “Let’s Talk Patient Safety: Reducing HAI Transmission Risk,” to help healthcare professionals identify infection risks and prevent the spread of HAIs. The training provides free continuing education for healthcare professionals, including nurses, physician assistants, medical assistants, health educators, and other clinicians. (0.1 CEU and 0.6 CNE).

The second resource is an interactive graphic novel. EVS and the Battle Against Infection illustrates the important role of Environmental Services (EVS) personnel in the prevention of healthcare-associated infections. EVS) personnel have the shared responsibility to help stop HAIs from spreading by working with colleagues, prioritizing areas that pose immediate safety risks, and following guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting.
