Parenting at Mealtime and Playtime

Parenting at Mealtime and Playtime (PMP) is a quality improvement and professional development initiative for health practitioners to optimize obesity risk assessment, prevention counseling, and family support for children 0-5 years of age and their families.

PMP curriculum offers providers developmentally appropriate guidelines on nutrition, healthy activity, and sleep to share with families within the context of building resilient family-child interactions that support healthy habits.

ECOPP partners with the Ohio Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (OAAP) to deliver PMP for physicians in a practice coaching model that grants MOC Part-IV professional development. For more information visit OAAP’s PMP site.

PMP has also been adapted for home visitors, community health workers, and WIC Professionals. We now offer a series ofone-hour independent study courses for community health workers, home visitors, child care providers, and other professionals working with families in the early childhood populations.  In these courses, local experts address the latest information about PMP to prevent obesity and improve the health of children 0-5 years of age.  The purposes of the trainings are to increase understanding of developmentally appropriate guidelines on nutrition, healthy activity, and sleep all within the context of building resilient family-child interactions that support healthy habits.  Click here for a list of courses and instructions on how to take them.

The PMP Mobile Application is available for download to help families adopt healthy habits. The App can be accessed at the Apple App store, Google Play or PMP website.
