Child Care Centers and Day Camps

The report below reflects new and cumulative COVID-19 cases reported to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) by child care providers, since March 23, 2020.  Programs are required to report cases to the local Health Department and ODJFS.  A report of COVID-19 by a program should not be interpreted as an indicator that the program is not following proper procedures—program cases can be a reflection of the overall situation in the broader community. Families and staff should always feel free to ask questions of the programs or to reach out to ODJFS for guidance.

Definitions are as follows:

  • Child Care Center:  Any place that is not the residence of the licensee or administrator in which child care is provided for seven or more children at one time.

  • Day Camp:  A program in which only school-age children attend or participate, that operates for no more than twelve hours per day and no more than fifteen weeks during the summer.
