At-Home Test-to-Treat Solution

Did you know that if you test positive for COVID-19 and are at high risk for severe illness, there are effective treatments available that have proven extremely effective at keeping people out of the hospital?

You will need to move quickly. In many cases, these treatments need to be started within five days of symptoms.

Treatments are available at no cost to you, and you can find them at a broad range of pharmacies, hospitals, and other locations.  If you cannot easily get to a provider to evaluate you and prescribe treatments, the Ohio Department of Health is partnering with eMed and (many local health departments) to offer a virtual “test-to-treat” option that can quickly connect you to testing and a prescription to secure COVID-19 treatment.

Since January 2021, Ohio has worked with eMed to distribute millions of Abbott BinaxNOW Home tests to Ohioans through local health departments, public libraries, schools, universities, federally qualified health centers, and other partners.

With an eMed at-home test, if you don’t feel well, you scan the code on your test or go to ohio.emed.com from a computer or smartphone to begin the testing process. A telehealth proctor walks you through the test “live” and verifies the results with an official lab report. If you test positive, eMed can immediately connect you to a clinician who can provide a medical evaluation and prescribe treatment if you qualify, all without leaving your home.

Prescriptions provided through eMed can be filled at a pharmacy of your choice for pick up or delivery nationwide, depending on your location and the availability of the treatment.

Contact your local health department to find out where you can access a “test-to-treat” test, today. For in-person test-to-treat alternatives, contact your healthcare provider or visit this locator site.
