The National Center for Health Statistics recently implemented a new coding system and is currently reprocessing all 2022 death files.
The Ohio Department of Health will continue to update the total reported COVID-19 deaths, but will not resume reporting weekly trends until reprocessing of 2022 death files is caught up.
Thank you for your patience during these updates.
* Other states do not send death certificates to ODH’s Bureau of Vital Statistics on a regular schedule and therefore fluctuations will be reflected in reported mortality data. Deaths are assigned to their appropriate date of death.
**State and county case rates per 100,000 (over two weeks) are updated weekly on Thursdays.
As of Monday, March 14, the Ohio Department of Health has transitioned to reporting COVID-19 metrics from a daily to weekly cadence. Moving forward, metrics will be updated on Thursdays. This will include new and cumulative cases, hospitalizations, ICU admissions, vaccinations, deaths and reports from partner agencies (Developmental Disabilities, Veteran’s Homes, Youth Services, Mental Health and Addiction Services and Rehabilitation and Corrections). Cases will continue to be assigned to the appropriate illness onset date, and vaccinations to their appropriate administration date.
